Hand diaries, 1861-1887.

Ten original diaries by George Hand recording his daily life in early Tucson, 1861-1887. There are also three scrapbooks and a folder of correspondence. The diaries contain brief entries describing entertainments, saloon life, celebrations, and comings and goings of local citizens. He also mentions prostitutes, hangings, suicides, murders and kept a log of deaths from 1872 to 1887. The scrapbooks contain clippings of remedies, items of curiosity, and obituaries.
